5.4 swap

im going to be doing a 5.4l 2v swap sometime before the end of the year. is there a difference between the f150 and the expedition? either one better to go with? i will keep it n/a so not looking for the lighting or anything. can someone that has done this swap post a list of things u needed for the swap? is it better to go with an aftermarket intake such as the hps or are the adapter plates fine? anything i should look out for? what kind of numbers can the stock engine take? is there anything i should upgrade?

your going to want to change the top end. those engines are coming out of trucks that are designed for low end power and not high rpm power. your going to want the opposite

Then watch out for "Improper lane change" tickets.

I think what ke^in means is it really pisses cops off when you're diving in and out of lanes, which I assume is what you'll be doing if you want to use your added torque for lane switching

Bingo. They will give you a ticket quicker than shit for that. A lot of times they can charge you for racing even if you weren't. Seen it happen. And just because you are going the speed limit, doesn't mean that they can't get you if you keep going from lane to lane to lane.

And people who "race" like that need shot. That isn't racing. That's playing "Who's the biggest dumbass"

it will be nice when passing big trucks and shit too.

im not going to do cams or anything, just new bearings, rods and pistons then im good to go correct. does it matter how many miles the engine has on it since im replacing some parts? will my odometer still read how many miles my 4.6 had or how does that work?

Like I said, read other threads about 5.4 swaps. There is a shit load of information about it. Do tons of research. Obviously you should try to get the lowest mileage 5.4 you can, but i'm pretty sure your odometer would read how many miles your car (chassis) has on it, not how many the motor has. Might not be a bad idea to forge the internals as long as you're at it. I would do heads/cams also. Why not save up your money and then build it up all at once while it is out of your vehicle.

isnt there a lot more involved when going from a 4.6 2v to a 5.4 4v... how much for the block? how many miles on it?
