5spd vs automatic question
I was wondering if anybody knows the 0-60 and 1/4 mile time differences between a stock 5spd GT versus a stock Automatic GT. I know that the 5spd's are supposed to be faster but I was wondering how much faster they were. If anybody has any answers that would be cool. Thanks.

assuming you do have a good driver the 5spd would win. if not...well...then its a toss up. all the auto guy has to do is step on it. |

Stock for Stock the 5-speed with a great driver should win....but not by much........If both were built then the auto would win in a straight line race...........it is much easier to get the power to the ground with an auto....but the 5-speed is more fun putting around town.......once you build an auto set-up though it is night and day difference.....

it may also CONTAIN mispelling of the acutual word contain....as well as other various gramatical errors.
as far as auto vs 5 spd...as far as 0-60 really not gonna see a huge difference...maybe .3 seconds or so.

Like everyone else said, it usually depends on how good of a driver the guy driving the 5 spd is.

Manuals also use less gas, and is cheaper to repair.

yep..because typically in a manual the clutch takes the brunt of the abuse...where in an automatic...the tranny gets beat on.

![]() JK...but i doubt a auto without a stall will cut better than a 1.8 on street tires

I went and test drove a 2000 Mustang GT with 52,000 miles today. It was a 5 spd with Bassani exhaust and a short throw shifter. It was a little more fun to drive but my auto is faster. I used to always drive 5spd's so I kind of miss it. My car has 110,000 miles on it and runs perfect. I guess I will wait until my motor dies in a few years and decide what I want to do then.

A stock 5 speed, driven properly, will beat a stock automatic with a similarly-skilled driver. However, a built automatic will beat a 5 speed.
