Short throw
Buying the pro 5.0 short throw on american muscle now, it asks if I want to buy the gasket for 10.99, I have just enough on paypal for it, Is the gasket a must?

Yes. Or some sort of RTV silicone sealant. But yes, you need something.

It's not necessary, but I have heard people that use the gasket versus the RTV that you don't hear the tranny as much. If I ever get around to it I might switch over to the gasket.

I personally think it is necessary. Metal on metal. Something should be inbetween there.

Yes either RTV or a gasket. I would say gasket after the reviews I have read from people. I used the black RTV that came with my MGW and have had no problems.

I used the gasket and althought it looks and feels like nothing there are no leaks and little noise from the tranny.
be sure to scrape off the old gasket material very well prior to using this. if on the cheap you can certainly use some liquid gasket but it is a messy job and will be sure to make a mess.

I have the gasket and love it.. Its much cleaner and you can really tell that it cuts down on the tranny noise.. Well worth it imo..
