Numbers verry slightly pending on the type of block
Something about those numbers doesn't jive. Either they're wrong, or there's something different about those blocks besides the material they're made of.

129 is 76.7% of 168.
220 is 92% of 239.

Why do you get such a much more significant weight savings going aluminum with the 4.6L?

I know, I saw them too.

But I also saw 100 and 110 lbs as listed weights for the aluminum 5.4L block.

I'm not saying those weights are necessarily wrong, just that if they're right something has to be different in the castings.

I dont know what they would be removing to reduce the weight by that much but it sounds wrong to me??? I am going to go with the # from FRPP on this one. Either way, I am getting the weight reduction and performance of a 05+ 3V in a lighter platform, awsome

I saw those numbers on FRPP's site. I'm wondering if some of these are shipping weights, maybe?

Teksid blocks were rated at 1600hp directly from Teksid themselves. Cant for the life of me find a link

I also hear this whole 3v aluminum is stronger bit and disagree. No way Ford can even get close to the tolerances of Teksid. All kinds of different companies source them for the absolute best castings possible for racing, F1, Supercars etc. They are world renowned. Their customer list includes the best of the best, and companies we think already make wicked blocks yet *they* still go to Teksid for race/high end stuff.

No way something Ford casts themselves can even get close. Wap blocks for instance have a *stronger* physical design with extra reinforcement only to still come nowhere close to the teksid. Its all about the metal contents and tolerances not just hatching/bolt patterns/thickness.

I remember hearing the 3v block is also deck chilled to improve strength. That still doesnt fix actual casting/design issues though and is more of a bandaid to add a bit more strength to the block which is way cheaper than a redesign.

Not that they cant hold the power. But side by side, with the same exact build/heads/boost/etc I think the Teksid would hold up better.

i remember reading some where that teskid adds more nickel to thier alloy. proshe and ferreri (sp) both use teskid castings in thier production vehicles

It's really a shame that Ford got such a nice block, but then cheaped out on the rods and pistons
