Annoying emergency brake light

I cannot figure out why my emergency brake light on the dashboard illuminates frequently. Obviously I have the hand brake off, but whenever I brake, or sometimes decelerate in a gear, the light will come on. Often it will stay on even when I'm accelerating. I cannot this out. I was wondering if anyone has encountered a similar problem. Thanks.

I have the similar problem when i brake too hard or sudden, my ebrake light comes on and stays on for about 30 seconds how do we out this?

check the switch on the ebrake lever under your center armrest. my 89 was doing the same thing and i took a look at the switch and it had come loose and was always touching the contact making the light stay on all the time. Hope this helps

Does it just say brake in red??? Check your brake fluid mine was doing the samething might help might not let me know

I checked my brake fluid about a month ago and it was fine. Yes, it does say "Brake !!" in red. The light does not stay on all the time, just for about 30 seconds at a time. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem!

The switch is loose. Happened on my 00. Easy fix.

broken sensor / switch .... had this problem in a 3000GT ...

well ford can make cars go fast....but as for slowing down and braking.... they suck!

yeah i have the same prob if i slam on the brakes. i just take it as my car saying "O FUCK!!!"
