99-04 gauge cluster?

does anyone know when the changed the bulb size on the gauge clusters for our years? i know i have a 2000 and they have the little ass 74 bulbs. i replaced them with leds, but they were so small they really didnt have an effect on it. i know some of them come with the standard 194/168 bulbs, and that is the one im looking for. but i dont want to buy another one and end up with the same problem. any help will be repped and greatly appreciated

I dont know the answer to your question, but I do know if your still using the PATS system (security chipped keys), when you change out your cluster the car wont start unless you have PATS turned off or re-learned.

BTW for those with scratched up clear plastic, use plastic polish to really smooth/clear that up. Works on headlights and the like as well. My clear gauge plastic is now VERY VERY polished and smooth. Almost looks as if it's not there.

PFFT! I don't mind the stock one at all. I actually like it. I don't know what the PO did to the clear plastic, but it was all scratched up near the bottom. I took some of that polish and some elbow grease. Now it looks better than new.

It works on the plastic that the lights are made of too. Really makes the light inside bright.

That ENTIRE process on that page for both cluster and hvac can be done in probably less than 2 hours on your first time. Its a piece of cake guys.

I tried that, not as straightforward as it seems. I think most of the new edges have a green film rather than a blue film so unless you sand off the colored film behind the cluster and HVAC controlls, it'll still be green. If you like green though, just get the white wide angle LEDs and they'll be pretty damn bright lol

But seriously it's not hard to take apart the cluster.

I like the green. That's what I was following that thread. I wanted to see any new edge guys who have the 'apprearent' green film would put white led's in so I could see if they were still green.
