05+ Front Brakes on an 01 Cobra

Will they fit? do any of you guys know or have seen it done? Is it even a worthwhile upgrade?

I mean yes, anything can be made to fit. But it won't bolt up like the Cobra brake upgrade will with a new edge GT. I recommend the Cobra brake upgrade kit for new edge GT's because it's an upgrade to a dual piston caliper and a 13" front disc rotor. Very good upgrade for a great price. (the rear on the cobra is the same as the GT).

The gt has a dual pistion caliper on the front too. The cobras don't have the same rear as the gt, the gt uses a single plate rotor, the cobra has a twin plate rotor. The v6 and the gt have the same brakes front and rear.

Oh well I didn't know that the GT's updraded to dual piston. My GT only had a single piston, so it must have been just for the PI GT's is when they upgraded the front calipers.

Yeah his cobra stockers are very suffiecient enough. Unless he's doing a lot of road racing/track courses I personally think the stock Cobra's are perfect.

eh? I thought the cobra brakes were better than the 05+'s because they have 13 inch rotors and the new ones only have like 12.4 inch rotors...?

hehe just saying, that it wouldn't be an upgrade at all, it'd be a downgrade!

If he is wanting it to stop better, tell him to look at the ebc pads and rotors.

My 97 has a 2 piston front caliper. The rear is a single piston. As for the vented front or rear, I don't remember, i'd have to look.

The fronts are vented but the rears are not, unless it has the cobra brakes like the bullitts and machs. Those have a bigger and better setup.

I am SERIOUSLY thinking about getting said upgrade. I am stock, and I am not so happy with the breaking power. I used to have a smaller/lighter car that would stop at a dime. The mustang not so much. Do the Cobra breaks improve on that at all? I'd like to do that before I start putting more power to the car.

Easy. Hardest part for a newb, IMO, would be bleeeding the brakes. But that's easy as hell if you're not an idiot. Plenty of walk-through guides on the interwebz

I have Bekah to help me with the bleeding. It's easier to do if you have a helper IMHO.
