Bullitt ECU

Will a 2001 Bullitt ECU work on my 01 GT? As far as I know the only difference with the bullitt is the intake tb, and plenum.

The Bullitt GT has a 4.6L SOHC V8 - modified to improve airflow - producing at least 270 horsepower and significantly more torque than the Mustang GT engine. Modifications include twin 57 mm bore throttle body; cast aluminum intake manifold, high flow mufflers for increased power and aggressive sound and optimized alternator and pump pulley ratios. If I had to gues I would say no. I have to get some parts for a GT and some for a 96-98 Cobra. It can be a pain in the arse.

would that affect the way the ECU acts though? when I put underdrive pulleys or a bigger intake/plenum on my car, I don't have to adjust the ECU..

My guess is the Bullitt would have a slightly different tune because of the intake, and I'm not sure but I think because of the PATS system you'll have issues starting the car and probably with the dash working without a re-program.

I wouldnt use the pcm. Why would you even want to? Not only will the security system need to be recalibrated for youre keys and cluster. BEcause it wont start. The fuel tables will be different, the air will be as well. Different sensors unless you have a Bullitt intake. So youre check engine light would always be on. Just a big hassle.

I'm swapping the tranny from auto to manual and need an ecu from the same year car in 5spd. Wanted to know if the bullitt ECU would work because I have one from the same year. Also, I have an ECU from a 2003 GT, maybe that would work better?

Thanks for the help guys

Good thinking. Normally you try to stick with the same PCM as the part youre swapping.
