Offset steering rack bushings...

Has anyone bought them or tried them out? I recently replaced mine along with some tube brackets to stop my steering crunch/creak that was happening. Then I came upon these on american muscle last night and was just curious if they really do take that much slop out of the steering.

Offset rack bushings are for lowered cars, they re-set the steering geometry to compensate for the drop of the front end.

1.5" is generally not considered to be enough to "need" those bushings and should possibly help reduce some slop, as they are stiffer than stock ones. I would be willing to bet that you probably would not notice them once installed unless you had a VERY tight front suspension already.

So you install them with the offset (hole) toward the ground or the sky?

Yes it is horizontal to the ground, but the hole for the steering rack is offset meaning it can be offset to the bottom or top. You want the hole towards the ground, b/c you lowered the car which brought the tie rods up. With the offset bushing the steering rack is bvrought in-line with the tie rods. Make sense OP?

Yup. One of my friends has a program for suspension changes that includes the full profile for a 2000 Mustang. He plugged it in for me, and the rack needs to come down as you suggest. Thanks!
