Driving On a Doughnut

I picked up a nail last weekend and my mechanic plugged the tire, however when I got out of work Monday it was flat again and I had to drive home on a spare that did not fit right (the thing is off-balance and not holding air evenly.) I heard a lot of weird noises coming from that front end on the 20 mile way home now Im waiting on two new tires (Essenza does'nt make a 255/45/17 anymore). My question is this: Will it be a good idea to get a four-wheel alignment when I get the new tires on? I have a feeling I may have strained the chassis by riding with that POS doughnut on the front. The reason I wanna know is so I can tell the guy to do it and add it to the bill on Friday. Thanks. Greg

My tires eat more nails than plywood..this one however went in on enough of an angle to deplete. Im NEVER going for the tire plug again though, luckily I did'nt damage that rim on the way in that day.

Do what I did... go to Firestone and get the lifetime alignment service... you may once and can bring your car in for infinite alignments after that.

Half the time they just set the toe and let it go and its not a thrust alignment even if they do adjust caster/camber.

So you don't think Firestone does a good job?
