Installing headers!

How long for an install for headers on a 99GT and how hard would it be, it was not that bad changing them on my lightning because it has way more room in the engine or should I just have them installed at a shop!
A pic of my 93 lightning before my brother totaled it 1 month ago it only had 84,000 miles on it

To Install long tubs yourself is a long process. If I had to do it ever again I would contact a speed shop. You need to raise the motor disconect the steering shaft and have a good set of tools. The passnger side is the hard side ( back near fire wall) . Fourteen hours . If you deside to farm it out make sure you get a time quote in writing . Most shops will under estemate the job . Its a pretty big job i hear, dropping the k member, raising the engine, disconnected the steering shaft and so forth, should take you about a weekend to do, I plan doing LT's on my car this spring, i really don't have money to pay anyone, so looks like i'll have to stick it out and see how it goes!

if you are doing it in a garage on jack-stands good luck cause its a pretty difficult job but if you have access to a lift it can be done in about 4 or 5 hours depending on how fast you are.

I did mine myself, to me it was't that bad. I just jacked up my car really high with jack stands, and took the wheels and tires off then the kmember, and steering shaft and held up the motor and tranny with an engine hoist. With air tools and the right tools needed (mostly a 10mm ratchet wrench) its fairly simple.

a huge pain in the ass, unless you have a tubular k-member...then it's just a regular bolt on

It is not simple but is not hard...It is just time consuming...Expect to pay at least $500 for install at any shop...

The easiest way to do it is drop the k-member...If at any way possible get axcess to a lift and life will be alot better...

I spent around $70 in header gaskets as well...I did not wnat to have to replace them again so I bought the soft copper/aluminum ones and they work great...

Also if you have BBK longtubes some people have to put a washer under the driver side motor mount to clear the stearing shaft...I did not ahve to do this though...
