Weight reduction

Tomorrow I will be weighing my car to see what it was at for this season(with driver) and then the weight loss program begins. Im going to see how much weight I can take off and how big of an impact it will have on it for next season. I'll take pics of the process along the way. I plan on ripping everything out and remove any little thing that is not mandetory.

Rear bumper cover removed

Tail pipes hang from crash bumper

Cut and modified crash bumper to be exhaust hanger

Black plastic boxes that sit behind the rear tires

Where they sit behind the tire

Rear cover reinstalled

Front bumper cover off and crash bar removed

everything that i dont need to drive. well besides interior plastic. anything behind them and what not will be gone. i'll tear down and see where its at and go from there. also fabing up and aluminum rear seat delete out of .032 5052 that will be much lighter than a typical rear seat delete.

it makes a big difference losing the weight of the car, but just becomes a race car after that. I have nothing in mine, no bumper supports, air bags, stereo, speakers, just the basic panels and race seats, lightweight everything in suspension, no a/c and mine weights a little over 2900 lbs with me in it and i weight 170lbs.

Thats about the same thing im doing tim, except for the a/c I havent decided on removing it yet. but the carpet will be coming up and jute back being removed. all the insulation from behind the panels will come out. the sound deadening panels will get scrapped off. ect....

I need to put my panels, and carpet back in my car... make it "semi" streetable if I decide to take it someplace...

but I need to take the bumper supports out, once the cage is in, same with the crash bars in the doors.

For one its safer than a regular fuel tank. The fuel cell would be put in the trunk, strapped in, jpre than likely be a rear sump meaning the ful pick up would be at the bottom rear of the tank so when you accel all the fuel goes to it. Most of the time they put foam in them also.

Carpet and panels don't make it a street car! lol.
and i would also remove the supports after the cage.

If i put mine on a diet thats a must.
There is a place that sells a two piece aluminum sheet for that exact thing along with door pannels etc etc...
