Exhaust Pipes

Hello all...excuse me, but I am new to the game, but am having a blast with my new Mustang...I just bought a 2002 GT (automatic)...I know, I know...Ive been given all kinds of hell not getting a Stick...but to tell yall the truth, when I first bouth my stang, I never realy planned on the racing thing, I just wanted to cruise and not worry about shifting gears, as I have had standard all my life...well guys, since the first time I was called out at a stop light, Ive been hooked...and yes, now after I have been beaten a few times, but not by much, I want more HP! I was kind of fortuant that the previous owner had already done some Mods:
K&N Intake
Lowered with Eiback Springs
17 in. Black Steeda rims
Flowmasters (not sure what kind of pipe: H, X, etc...)
Which brings me to my question...the guy that had this before me had the tail pipes cut right after the mufflers, so there is nothing sticking out the back...any ideas why this was done...dont get me wrong, it sounds kick ass, but I didnt know if there was any other reason why this would be done, as I kind of like the way crome tips look...I was told by someone that it makes it louder, then if the pipes were extended out the back...any feed back would be great! Also, would headers be a good next Mod? or would I have to do something else in order to put the headers?[/img]

headers are always a good mod. as for cutting tem off, it can make them louder, and also cn get rid of some of te noise that the tips make that the owner didnt like. i have mine dumped in front of the axle but i also have a v6 rear bumper so i dont have the cutouts, you can always just buy the tips or have a exhaust shop piece it together for you. i cant see it being too expensive

Thanks for the response...now that you mention it, I dont have the cut outs either, but I just thought they could fit right under the bumper...these are chopped almost right under the gas tank...anyhow, I think Ill keep them this way, since they sound great!...thanks again!
