S/C question
im thinking about getting the 2.1 intercooled kenne bell kit soon and just wondering besides everything that comes in the kit what else should i be looking to upgrade/replace. ive read about some replacing the clutch, control arms, rearend rebuilds, and other various things but i dunno for sure what i should be looking to replace, also im gonna run about 10lbs. kenne bell says the kit is made for a completely stock car, which it might be ok, but i says they need to get a reality check. i guess leaving it completely stock would be alright but i think i would be good to upgrade a few things but im not sure exactly what lol. i dont wanna do all this work and then not have a car to drive because of something minor so any advice is much appriciated, thanks.

fuel pump, injectors, MAF, and tune are the things you need. Dont know what all will come with the kit but those are the things that you HAVE to have.

what you change greatly depends on what your intentions are...if you wanna throw on a set of slicks and go racing you had better do some body stiffening, rear suspension, beefed up rear end etc. Clutch is a give in regardless....it just wont hold long lol They claim that a BAP gets the job done but I refuse to believe that so an svt focus pump or a gt pump should do the job. The 2.1 is a really nice kit all in all. Oh, and by all means get a 90mm maf, JLT fenderwell intake (my personal prefference), and a 75mm TB...otherwise it'l be like trying to suck a football through a garden hose lol
edit: if you look in my garage you'll get a better idea of what comes with it and what doesnt and what you'll need etc. my build is on a tight budget so thats the bare minimum lol

I only meant the stuff pertaing to the blower set up. base kit includes everything needed to make the car run and drive minus gauges and a custom tune...but thats it. the only other options on a 2.1 are the big tube intake with 90mm maf and 75mm tb and the other option is polishing. items needed to make it perform the way it should are the big tube kit, upgraded clutch, gauges (fuel, boost, and wideband), sfc's, and a custom dyno tune, and upgraded fuel pump (IMHO). anything past that is unnecessary right off the bat to go out on the STREET and have some fun..but thats just me lol If you wanna go to the track some attention needs to be paid to the rear end/suspension

its mainly going to be a fun street car. a fuel pump versus the BAP sounds like a good idea, as well as the MAF and TB. gauges for sure i forgot to mention those but im definitely getting them, also why is a fuel gauge important if i have one already? as for the intake, will any fenderwell be ok and what size? i will most likely upgrade the clutch as well when i install the kit, what clutch should i look at getting?

The ones that come in kit will be fine, actually they are 38's(thats what I recieved). Just buy the kit, install a good cai,75 tb,90mm maf and go have fun. upgrade as power level increase's.
I am running a stock clutch, long block, susp etc and it is holding up great and I don't baby it that much since I have another engine I am putting together for it,in fact, if it blew I might get motivated to finish it

Technically kenne Bell's kits are complete and come with everything you need.
Its up to you on whether you buy their intercooled kit or not. They should all have the neccessities to install, including fuel injectors, and boost a pump, but you need an maf. Like Baker said though the tune is key. Good tune will make it safer on your car. Heres the link and it tells you everything that comes with it. '96-'04 Mustang 4.6 2V 2.1L Supercharger

I have vac/boost and fuel pressure gages. The vac/boost gage reminds me that the supercharger is still working. After almost 50,000 miles I've gotten used to the power and need a reminder once in a while. Besides a boost gage is a suttle way of telling people what your running. I consider the fuel pressure gage interesting but worthless. Under normal conditions the needle swings up and down from 30 psi to 50 psi. I had originally thought it might tell me if I was loosing fuel pressure but it's not like a return style system. You might consider a wide-band AFR gage instead.

maybe there is a reason to have fuel pressure, i dont really see the need but i dont know why either. it seems to me that a fuel pressure gauge would be good if you thought it was too low/high but outside of that i dont see the need. wideband and boost for sure, those are give in's but i see a lot of people with 3 gauges so that why i was wondering really. id say wideband and boost are the 2 main for sure and with those you'd be straight but since i dont really know, id like to lol.
whats a good brand for gauges, what size and best place to find em? im not in a hurry to get stuff right away so piecing it together is no issue.
