Gotta say it doesn't look good for you. Make sure the race is from a dead stop. You have more torque to launch with. If he can't drive, or misses a gear you might win. He would have to really screw up though. LOL Good luck! What year is his car?

One of my best friends has one with only a manual boost controler and cat-back. Everything else is bone stock

It dynoed 285 hp at the wheels.

The little basterd runs high 7.90s all night long.

Re: racing an srt-4 today....chance?

If you dont have gears, its going to be close. But he could launch too hard get an assload of choppy wheel hop and give you the upperhand. The SRT is over rated imo, i drove one just the other day after destroying it with my stang. I was very dissapointed. Do not try to race it from a roll, it will embarrass you.

I own both i'll tell you right now over rated is not a good choice of words. You got the SRT at 2900lbs and making 230 and that is not at the crank that is at the wheel rating. You then have the mustang at almost 3600lbs and at 260 at the crank witch is only 30hp higher then the SRT but 700lbs heavier.Stock your stang will not do good from any kind of roll against it you'll want to go fom a dead stop and pray he doesn't hook.My SRT with a cai, spring mod and home made boost controller dynoed 245hp 266tq at the wheels and ran at the time 13.51 @104.7 all day long with a crappy 2.18 60ft.I have yet to run the stang but i can already tell it's not as fast as the SRT stock. And don't bet him a anything cause you wno't be able to tell if he has a spring mod or boost controller until it's to late

If you got tires and a good shift you'll get 'em. And if your going to be racing, race for money,.....or something equally as good. If the 'domestic rice' gets nevous about the 100 bones he's about to loose and misses a gear your in like flint!

NO that is probably the worst thing he could do cause all it takes to hook up a hm boost controller is about $5,5min an 1 vacum line and he'll be able to hide it very well. Then if he does like you say then he just paid for the next mod on that SRT.

Re: racing an srt-4 today....chance?

Blackbird, i drove a BONE stock SRT4 and the suspension was too soft, the shifter was REALLY sloppy, the clutch was something i guess i would need to get used to in order to change my opinion from cheap to manageable, and remember he was BONE stock. In MY opinion they are overrated in stock form, anything can be badass when modded. I know a guy in a 92 VW GTI that runs 12's, but bone stock they have 95hp, weigh 2250lbs, and run 18's.

when you get to the finish line say to him "dude... i almost had you".... This will open up the opportunity for him to say "you almost had me? you never had your car".... then the cops will show up and try to take him away...

Thats weird mine doesn't feel sloppy even compared to the Stang and mine is a stock shifter. The stock susp. underload is a little soft the only thing i have done to that though is add a strut tower brace and now the car handles 10x better with just that.I know that you may have drove one once but i drove mine everyday for a long time and i have the ability to do a side by side comparo.I enjoyed the stock clutch while it lasted it was very smooth but under more then 15psi and you'll just glaze it.The mustangs squeaks under hard shifts and can be annoying. The mustang shift points are further apart then the SRT's as well but both would benefit from a short throw. Both cars have good points and bad ones, the stang can get traction from a stop the SRT can't,the SRT has awsome top end the stang doesn't.I like both of my cars and wouldn't trade either one of them for the other.Thats why i have both.
