Patriot stage 3 heads.
Ok i got my car stripped down to the block atm, and go to put my new cams in them and get ready to mount them on the block and i....well cant tell them apart and they arent marked by anything except serial numbers. Are heads identical? They look like they are to me. Unless they sent me two of the same side i just dont know. Anyone have these installed? Or are all heads identical or something? This is my first time installing heads, tho its not above my skill level, i just dont wanna f*ck it up ya know. Any help?

wanna hear something funny? the heads are exactly the same but so therefor one head can go one both sides of the motor. all you have to do is turn it around. now as for the cams, they cannot just go in whichever side.

Re: Patriot stage 3 heads.
acmillr, dont worry i did the same thing with my buddy. My car sits in his garage because i dont have one, and we stopped the other night after tear down to the block, he called me the next day while i was on my way out there and said "which one of these are which?", I insulted him by saying "wtf do you mean how do you tell them apart? all you gotta do is look at the exhuast ports and intake ports" Little did i know once i got there i would look at them for an hour trying to find something different, but they are exactly the same even the dipstick tube bolt hole is on both. Weird little coincidence...

I got to thinking- If they are Patriot heads, there should be an oil plug in the back of one of the heads from the factory, and that would make a difference on which side you put it on. Correct me if I'm wrong.........

Re: Patriot stage 3 heads.
There was a plug in each of them actually tho in the aftermarket patriots one was deeper inset than the other one was.

I am for sure now, I just pickd up my heads from the machine shop and looked up some info on the web. The driver's side head does have an extra plug. If you don't put that head on the driver's side, you are going to have major problems..........
