I would say for my car that is..... 1500rpm is on the verge of lugging the motor in higher gears. Because if im in 4th and shift at 1500rpm then it drops severely in 5th. But what do I know im new to this whole GT 5 speed thing. Just my .02.

I have never got better than 19 mpg out of my car. probably because i treat everytime i get in the car like the Daytona 500. When i use spray i get about 8 mpg. Oh well i dont care, i didnt buy a mustang for gas milage.

You can't really measure mileage by the tank. But let's try anyway. Most people don't run the tank dry so let say a tank of gas is 13 gallons. 200 miles would be 15.4 mpg. Not bad for city driving. Even if the number were 190 miles and 13.5 gallons that would be 14.1 mpg. Still not bad for the city.
I drive a combination of interstate/highway/city and get approximately 20 mpg or around 300 miles per tank. If I drive less interstate it goes down to 19 mpg. More interstate and I can get 21 mpg. (This is assuming, of course, that I keep my foot out of the fuel injectors.) I'm fairly certain that if I drove a complete tank on the interstate I could get 22-23 mpg.

so much truth in this statement! buying a v8 mustang and expecting good gas milage is like going to the strip club expecting to find a good wife.

thats a good analogy. haha. i just get tired of people i know with mustangs complain about gas milage all the time. im thinking you got a v8 muscle car. if ur gunna complain, cut of ur nuts, hand ur balls and keys to the dealer and buy yourself a prius.

plus one on the high drop on the mpg from hwy driving to city.
i usually averaged 200 on 95% hwy to 150-180 (at best) on 95% city driving... EDIT:i usually shift at 2k to 2.5k

I made about 18 mpg city and 24-26 highway. I have stock gears and shift at 2000 rpm.
The 1500 is doable in an 05+. The variable cam timing makes them have more torque down low than we do. Also, do you live somewhere flat? I live in seattle and its Hilly as F. So shifting changes a bit as I go. On the whole though. 20mpg average is pretty freaking good for a v8 muscle car. No one ever believes me, so I figure its good. My Fucking chrysler 300 gets 20 mpg.
