Ive heard it from a lot of other people on forums, liek Stangnet, All Ford Mustangs, and my tuner Mike Dez (very well known) said basically the same thing.

It makes sence if you think about it. Seriously 1st gear spins up so quick its not even funny. Its like 33mph and its like 2 car lengths. 2nd Gear is 55mph. and 3rd gear is only 84mph. And thats all at 6000. I dont bring my car up that high at all. I shift around 5500-5600rpm.

So with 3.73's you have longer 1st gear, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Make's sense my man

My point is your key word here is still "heard" how many have actually tried it. Logically yes it makes sense that it speeds up that fast but look at it this way......You have a supercharger and cams. Do they make more power at 3k rpm or 5k+ rpm? 5k+ is more like the answer. So do you want to crawl to 5k+ like a turtle, or do you want to mash it and get your way up there? Thats the same logic that comp has with recommending 4.10+ gears with most of their cams for our cars.

Im not saying anyone is wrong...im just saying. Dont believe everything you hear/read on the net. Just an example look back about a year or two ago everyone was so balls deep into the eibach sportline springs (kinda like they are with the junk ass hightech cams now days) it wasnt even funny, now days if someone brings up the sportlines what do people say? Theyre instantly junk. Its not a direct correlation but it gets the point across....Just as I bet if you ask "what gears are best for me x.xx or y.yy. 90% of the people that reply would either a have no experience with both and be biased, or b not even have fi more less tried one or the other with fi but still think they know whats correct based off of what they "hear".

The whole gear thing is a bunch of opinionated bullshit. If you want to know what works best id say slap your supercharger on and see how it goes. If it goes well and you like it stick with it. If it dont spend $200 and a couple hours time and swap them out and youre good to go simple as that.

Nah I hear what your saying. And I do somewhat agree. But me personally, I want to have that long 3rd gear. You know what I mean?

If thats the case sounds good. Each to their own BUT for the sake of not blowing money I still say give both a try. Why spend $200 + a ton labor if you cant do it yourself to have someone swap gears before you even try it. When for all you know you could try the 4.10's with fi. If you like it good deal, if you dont then spend the money.

Kinda reminds me of the guy today at work. Working on a honda that had 4 bulbs in the headlight. The side it was hit on 2 were out. He wanted to spend 10-15 minutes pulling/checking fuses, making sure the sockets had power, and such stupid bs first before the obvious thing which it turned out to be...bad bulbs...So kinda the same deal in a sense. Try what you have, if you like it cool, if you dont, then swap, it can possibly save money in the end.

so you can spin the stock motor to over six grand...and when you have it tuned they will probably set the limiter at 6500 anyway...rev that thing to 6400 and your not gonna be running out of gear at the track...that would let you trap 115+

Uhmmm noooooo. Im not spinning my stock block with boost over 6000. Fuck that shit. I dont have the rods, the pistons, or valve springs for that.

Scott - Sounds bad ass man, gonna be a beast. I just want to supercharge, then Ill build my rear end during the 2010 season...then 2011 forged bottom end, and more boost

mrbigjeep - Yea, but adding boost to that??? Not to great of an idea. The Cobra motors redline at 6500, and they have forged rotating assembly. The Mach 1's redline at 6800...only a forged crank. Id much rather keep my redline at 6000 than 6500...ef that man. Thats just me, until I get a MMR900 shortblock

Before I even read his response, I figured his reasoning behind 4.10s and not having boost is that you'll run through your gears so fast that you'll have to shift before you even know it. Regardless, 12 psi at 6000 RPM is 12 psi at 6000 RPM.
