what would i need to swap my auto trans for a t56?

Probably something like this, and call about an upgrade to a T-56.

There are a couple very informative thread on tranmissions over the last day or two and have a swap thread on this subject as well.

Yeah just do a search. There's one thread that tells you basically exactly what you need to swap from an auto to a manual. Then like jazzer said the thead T3650 has a lot of good info on the T-56
