New Best! With some bad news.....
Well, I decided to go to Fayetteville Motorsports park today to get some passes in with the new cams.........the ones I install about 2 months ago.....and WOW....top end is crazy!
60 ft............. 1.60 330ft............ 4.75 1/8th............ 7.40 MPH............. 92.48 1/4............... 11.65 MPH.............. 115.86 This was the only pass I made....the car ran strong and I now have a tick...lol....she held up good and lasted a while.....time to go forged and a .020 overbore.....not sure what the verdict is with the tick but sounds like the bottom end.....you can't really hear it at idle but at 1800-3500 you can here it at cruising....the cams worked great and the car pulls like a freight train at WOT.......Oh and the good news is I was running a GT 500 on that run....604HP and beat him....he ran an 11.78@124.......he didn't know what hit him......well the weather wasn't bad...around 68 deg and the track prep was decent.....I am happy so far.....not bad for a stock bottom end 01 Cobra block....with a few more cubes and some forged internals I will be able to spinn to 7000 with the new intake.....I will still be hunting for that 10 sec pass next next year......time to go to big N little set-up and let her rip.....here daily driving status is coming to a close......weekend warrior and car shows...hopefully the motor will hold up for a while till I park it.... Thanks man.......the car picked up a solid 2+mph from the VT Stage II's....I think I may just roll with these and try them with the new intake.....the car felt strong as hell all the way thru the traps.....

The motor spins to about 6500 every day..lol....I had the short block in there for about 30,000 miles now....it was a stock 01 cobra short block that was superchared and pushing 500+ hp for about 6,000 miles before I got it......it was a quick fix for my old 90,000 mile stock short block that was on its way out....I was planning on either building a ford racing 5.0 block next year or just doing a .020 over on the aluminum block I have in there now......more cubes or keep the weight reduction.....decisions...decisions....lol

I run 17x9's all around....255/45/R17s nittos up front and 275/40/R17 MT DR's out back.....I should pick up 3-4 tenths switching to a big n little set-up....about 70lbs lighter, less drag and weight up front, and 20-25lbs less rotational mass on the back axels...that will be next after the shortblock gets rebuilt....

Could be your timing chain...might wanna check..I had a tick in mine and it was from my tensioners going bad and letting the chain get loose and slap. Take off on of your valve covers and see if you can pick up on the chain. Just a suggestion not saying thats your problem but its cheaper than a new motor lol

Quick na car congrats. Automatics with nice drag set ups make good et's. Maybe lose a little more weight? Ken bjonnes use to trap 120+ with just a little more hp than you but that was several years ago.. I might start running 325/50/15 dr's in the rear and skinnies at the track. Do you use adjustable shocks?

Best of luck to ya Ed. I wish I could have been there to see the GT500 owner's face when you reached the end of the track before him. It must be nice to show off your engine to everyone else..."yeah, just a little 281 2v." Most can assume it's just another 13-second 2v trying to reach 12s. Hoping for the best with the upcoming build, bro.

My slow p.o.s. picks up 1-2 mph on the big end when the weather is spot on - are you sure your gain was from the cams???

I believe the gains are from the cams and getting the spark plugs right.....I switched from a TR55GP Gapped at .55 to a TR6 Gapped at .42 this eliminated any spark know it was getting before...and ran smoother at WOT.....I do run a fully adjustable coil over set up all around.....I have decided to keep the same bore and run -6.5cc manley pistons and rods, add in some new bearings, a ported chryo treated oil pump, re hone the bore, and ballance the assembly......ordering tomorrow.....going to keep it simple and forged and try the new TFS intake I have here....this way I can spinn to the moon and see what these cams can do.....
