Lifter knocking

I built a 5.0L stroker motor this past summer for my 01 gt. Had a professional assemble the bottom end and do the timing for me. I've taken it to the track a couple of times. and the motor runs strong.

But now for some reason theres a loud ticking noise, coming from what sounds like the drives side? at first i knew it was the throw out bearing, so now theres a new throw out.

I've had several people listen to the motor and say that it sounds like a lifter is knocking. Is this even possible when you have a roller rocker like ours?

because this is an extremely loud and annoying ticking that scares me pretty bad haha

we got lash adjusters and there have been instances when they have caused a tick. its not a very common thing at all, i ran into an adjuster issue when i built doc's motor. the issue was evident upon start up, not miles later.

Did you build up a 5.0L pushrod stroker or did you stroke out your 4.6 to 5.0L? In either case, check your header/exhaust manifolds on the side of the engine that the noise comes from. If it's a pushrod 5.0L motor you may want to check out the lifters, if it's a 4.6 I agree with the person above who said to check the valve seats(seats or seals?). Another option, which I would HIGHLY RECCOMEND is a seafoam smoke show. Put some in your gas, some in the crank case, and vacuum line some into your plenum/manifold.

its a modular 4.6L stroked to 5.0L, and i've checked the header to the best of my knowledge its all tight. im half tempted to pull the motor next month ( have to change the clutch anyways) and that way i can go threw everything and make sure its all tight.

put it this way if u bend the vale enough where it wont shut all the way it may hit your piston and cause more damage than you can imagine.. metal shards flying at your cylinder wall/combustion chamber..
it could get nasty..

didn't patriot heads have valve guide issues? a loose guide could create a tick also(like the famous cobra tick)
