Okay im going with 4.10, so let me see if I got it right... I will top about at around 112mph. Is this because of the governor or because that’s as far as the gears in my tranny go?
Im running a normal 17" rim Last edited by 01KnightRiderGT; December 12th, 2009 at 07:45 AM. |

In 3rd gear, with OD off, you will redline at 112-118 depending on how high you rev your engine. I have 3.73's because I drive on the interstate quite often, and at 80mph with OD on I am cruising at 3000 RPM with ze auto.

With 4.10's 112 is your rev limit in 3rd gear. you can change your rev limit with a tune but untill you get cams your not making any power up there..and on stock springs.....it's meh So you would actually start to redline @ about 106-7 and hit the rev limiter @ 111-113 unless you shift into O/D (Which is not good for your tranny...and it's also your longest gear by far...so it's your slowest)

I have done over 112 in 3rd but I wasn't paying attention and was at like 6500 rpms haha I first starting hating topping out at 110 to 112 with stock tires and rev. but Then I thought. Ok on the street if I am doing over 90 I am fucked so whats the piont of having to do 130 plus? Also as the track if I am trapping 110 to 112ish you are pretty modded. I am putting a blower and stall in my 4:10'ed AUTO and if I go to the track then I will just use taller tires. I am next year doin cams and LT's and keeping me 4:10s then too. I am going to done to 3:73's when I build my block and go D1sc with spray or an F1 model procharger.
So to finish 4:10s are a great auto gear for street and track IMO and will still be good with a blower and such. You can also do cams and raise your redline and get more out of it also.
