Some Vortech Supercharger Questions

I'm looking into getting myself a Vortech supercharger kit, but I am buying the parts separately since it's cheaper and buying a used head unit. I know I need the bracket assembly, discharge assembly, intake, oil feed and oil drain, also injectors and possibly fuel pump. I'm just wondering what else I would need such as MAF wise? Would I want to get a blow through MAF? I want to have a blow off valve blow out to the atmosphere. I'm also hearing things about the IAC on my year model GT's since they're built in the MAF? Any information would be appreciated.
I would sometime like to invest in an FMIC setup for it also..

Wondering if a 90mm Lightning MAF will work with setup? Just trying to get a basic idea of what I need to run 8-9lbs. Also still wondering how the blow off to atmosphere thing works...I'm new to all the centrifugal stuff cause I've only been looking into turbo's and roots style. Any help would be great!

The Bypass Valve
Compressor surge is a problem that affects most superchargers and develops when the supercharger is creating boost, but the throttle shaft is closed. Although not a problem on some low-boost (5psi or less) applications This condition can occur under deceleration or while shifting between gears, and can cause the car to sputter and chirp. Under surge, the compressor forces air into the closed throttle body until the pressure inside the throttle body is higher than the amount of pressure being created by the supercharger, and the air tries to pop backward through the supercharger. At that point, pressure is released inside the throttle body and the compressor forces air back through the supercharger and into the throttle body, which again has nowhere to go, and the process repeats. While surge normally is not highly damaging to the engine it is certainly annoying and can cause damage with time. To eliminate these problems under surge conditions, a bypass valve (sometimes called an anti-surge valve) is used to release the excess pressure. The bypass valve is actuated using intake manifold vacuum, which opens the vent valve and releases pressure in the air-intake. Air is either released into the atmosphere (blowoff valve) or recirculated back through the supercharger compressor (bypass valve).

Ok, now I understand the venting to atmosphere thing which is pretty much what I thought. I was hoping maybe some guys with their centrifugal charged cars would pop in cause I would just like to know how it is setup with a MAF. I'm trying to keep it inexpensive to say the least. Thanks for that write up!

Im doing the same thing as you. I bought a used Vortech V1 headunit on eBay for $325.
Im buying the Bracket assembly, air intake assembly, discharge assembly, and oil feed/ drain assembly from superchargersonline.com.

Im buying a CX Racing Intercooler, on Buy Ford Racing you can buy 42# Injectors w/ 90mm Lightning MAF. Ford GT Fuel Pump, Wideband Air fuel ratio gauge and boost/vac gauge.

V1 Head Unit - $325 (lucky)
Assembly for V1 - $745
CXRacing Intercooler - $360
42# Injectors w/ Lightning MAF - $310
Ford GT Fuel Pump - $170
Total - $1,910'ish

Minus the gauge's. And Im going to need a new clutch. And I'm sure a few differant things. It's much cheaper this way, and will work just as good. Good luck man

Damn! Good deal on the head unit! Yeah, I'm also planning on getting everything for the kit off superchargersonline.com I'm just going to keep it non-intercooled for a while since I also need to get my POS TR3650 rebuilt before anything. Your list is basically what I want...
V1 S trim, bracket assembly and what not, injectors and MAF, either SVT focus pump or GT, Bypass valve, and gauges and such. I just want to make sure this is everything I really need and want to see how it is setup.

I want to, but I am trying to keep it as inexpensive as I can. If a MAF works, then it works for me for now.

So would I, but yet again, I'm trying to keep it as least expensive as i can for now. Once I get more monies saved up after I get everything, then I'll intercool it.

You could wait and save up to do it right the first time...or more efficient.
