He said no cats.

Definately get a new boot. mine wasn't tight on the shifter before and was letting a lot of heat into the car. you may have a few things that are causing this but definatly get a new boot and go from there. If you have an after market shifter that is square and your boot comes with a round hole, just stretch it over, you will be fine.... that is how mine is with the tri ax.

You may want to put some insulation down at the fire wall and over your tranny hump to solve the radio issues.

Holy shit batman!! this makes me sweat just reading it :0
take it to the ford place, tellem wats wrong and pay thru the nose and get this fixed. Bc the longer u let it go the worse it's gonna get, u don't wanna fry ur tranny bc that's puts stress on the engine. Heat = any engines worst enemy! We wouldn't want u to damage ur pony or put yourself at risk. That's my .02
goodluck wit it homie

The boot shouldnt after shifting in any way. I have one on with a shortshifter and it works just fine.

Im gonna agree with this. That kind of heat comin from the trans would have blown it a long time ago. If the cats are getting that hot it shouldnt be too had to see the glowing. Once u get the exhuast fixed Id change the tranny fluid too, its been exposed to alot more heat then it should me and you dont want your tranny to go cuz your exhuast was clogged.

Thanks guys that makes alot of sense, I didnt think that little rubbery thing would really be making that much of a difference. Luckily im always deployed so the really is hardly ever driven has 36K miles on it, and i flush the fluids everytime i get back anyway...

Hey well this looks like the best reason ive ever heard to get a new exhaust setup. So.. lets talk about that? Ive thought about looking on the net, but im always afraid of if the stuff is going to fit together right, How do i know which cat is clogged there are three right? .. Fuck do i have to get new headers and everything? only one Cat is on the mid pipe right? or am i confusing that... How much is this going to cost jesus

U got like a 4 on the stock manifolds (correct me if that's wrong cuz I'm not sure) and two on ur stock H pipe

but my .02 izzz pick u up some MAC long tube headers and MAC Prochamber. I've heard a shit load of diff exhaust setups on mustangs and the MAC setup sounds the best BY FAR! IMO

So have to replace the stock manifolds... or atleast i might as well if im paying to have them taken off (or taking them off myself) anyway... So what can i do to minimize cost here? can i use any part of the original exhaust?

Is there a way to test to see if this is actually the problem? i dont want to drop a few grand on a new system if thats not the real problem... Were you guys fucking with me about seeing them glow?.. I hate having to trust other people so much with mechanical problems....

+1 on the Mac, I have their LT's and O/R Prochamber and it sounds great. They're not joking about the glowing, if your cats are clogged enough to generate that kind of heat INSIDE the cabin, imagine how much heat they're actually putting out at the source. If your car only has 36k miles though, it shouldn't be the cats. I would think about 100k is their lifespan. Take it to a MUSTANG shop in your area.

You could keep the stock catback
but deff take it to a shop ASAP. And the MAC setup won't cost u a couple grand, the LTs r like 500 (ceramic) and I think the shorty prochamber is around 250. That's a rough estimate

There is 4 cats, they are all on your mid pipe, you can keep your stock headers, they just look like there up there cause the mid pipe goes up far with stock headers

What changes exhaust wise when you get a turbo? i was looking at getting one of those cheap-o turbo kits for a few grand, theres two places that make them in Ohio which is a very patriotic state luckily for me...

My point being i might have to swap out exhaust components for that anyway if i choose to do it in a few months, and the car has run for 4 years like it is now...
