Hi.

So i installed my plenum. Now my car surges to 1200 when i start it. It goes like this.

Vrrooooooooom

surge

surge

die.

GTRACER88 said it was probably a leak, so i tightened my hose clamps some more but it's too dark outside to see anything else. What else could it be?

i will spray carb cleaner to see if the idle changes, but then the car won't idle. It keeps dying. so how else do i check?

U got a leak somewhere, just gotta find it...sounds like a textbook vacuum leak, check everything u installed and find the culprit (get some light too)...if u r gonna check w/ carb cleaner, make sure u do it when the engine is cold (can cause a fire on hot exhaust/motor) and as for how to do it, maybe have a friend hold it at 1500 rpm's?

no not really. But it took me a day because when i started, it was dark outside, and then i found out that i needed a 10mm deep socket, which i waited till the next day (today) to go out to sears and buy. i guess i'll just poke at it again tomorrow.

Will it eff up my car if i keep trying to start it like that?

Probably a vacc leak like everybody said. Do you have a gasket on the plenum to tb? The manifold has a gasket built into it (pretty sure). If you moved the MAF's position it can cause problems. I have to get retuned if i move mine.

+1 to pretty much what everybody said.

Wont mess it up... just not great to do. You got all the tools now just tear it all apart and triple check it all. electrical connections should make a slight snap sound.

if all else fails i can find someone to look over what i did.

i swapped the plenum to manifold gasket too, that orange/red rubber band like thing, although my old one was just fine. I swapped all the gaskets. I did remove the cold air intake tube from the MAF.

Vaccumm leak. Check the one nasty ass hose on the backside of the plenum. That's the most commonly missed one.

Nah dood I doubt u have a leak. U kno ur shit I don't think u forgot anything. When I installed my plenum and tb it idle WAY high like urs, around 1200-1300 and I took it to a shop and they adjusted it. So just do that or get a handheld tuner and do it that way. Not a technical problem it's a computor problem
