Supercharged 2000 GT Power Adders

I am new to the forum and have been reading up all day... My 96 Turbo Sentra was recently totaled (308whp and 12.9@114). I did not get much money from insurance, and I wanted to pick up something that I knew had been well maintained, had an immaculate interior and exterior, and was a bit different.

Enter my buddy's 2000 GT with a full Saleen kit (Eaton m90 it seems) including heat exchanger, headers, exhaust, intake, etc. The car put down 350whp/390wtq. The car is solid, and I would like to put down a bit more power. I have searched for cam options but seen people suggest the m90 is really at the limit of power and will not see gains with the cams. I have seen some different idler pulley mods claiming to decrease bell slippage and increase power by 30 or so whp. The car is seeing 8-9 psi right now, but I am not sure if it already has a smaller pulley. I have read that the 2V cannot handle more than ~425whp before problems start to emerge.

The car is great and very fun; I would just like to be closer to the 400 mark if possible without breaking the bank. Please excuse my mustang ignorance, as I spent the last 7 years working on my turbo fwd. As you can imagine, the sentra was a handful to drive and was heavily modded to get over 300whp. If cams will do the trick, I am in. Thanks!

Did he use the Tork tech kit? If so swap the blower for a kenne bell or whipple.

Cams will always make cars more efficient. Get the GT and get cams. You will hit your 400 rwhp mark or come super close. If your that worried about 400 rwhp just dyno the car while cold. Let that Heaton cool off.

I already have the car... I am not sure if he used any kit? I have a feeling its all the parts that would have been used on a 2000 Saleen. The heat exchanger, etc. is branded Saleen. I am really looking for an idea of what the cams could add. As I understand it, superchargers are air pumps, and cams may not make same difference as compared to a turbo setup when the blower is already flowing near its limit. I know there are cam better suited for forced induction. Ultimately, is there any info with regard to what cams and power I could expect to gain?

Thanks for the input. How is the idle/driveability on those cams? IT may be that the M90 is not going to flow any more air even with cams, though...

It sounds good, not too much of a lope so its fine and idles good, but i dont like the fact that if your light on the gas or let off when your rolling up behind a car on the street, the car like trys to buck because the cam is trying to lope, just have to get used to it and always be on the gas and not coast to long ive noticed. And ya the 436 was conservtive and only took the car to 5900, i think it will make 450 easy but waiting till i build a shortblock up this winter.

Saleen has had a Eaton based SC kit for years before tork tech kit came out. Pretty sure it will not hold the same SC's the tork tech kit will, but I could be wrong. That fact it's makes 350rwhp on the inefficent saleen kit is doing well the lower intake/ic is infamous for letting hot air around the heat exchanger.

You have a hard time breaking 425 with a stock Saleen Eaton SC.

The funny thing is that Tim Barth the owner of MPH use to run the S292 cams in his own cars. Then made one very similar and sold his own.

Link to his first 2v setup to break 600. Post #15. Warning thread is 7 years old. Told you I've been at this a long time lol.

Me too basically added a little more advance into the intake lobe and he has one with 550 lift instead of 531. But you can get a HP r292 cam instead os the s292 that has 550 lift also. S stands for street and R for race.

you are exactly right about the torktech kit. that is to adapt an Eaton M112 like the 03/04 cobra's had on to a 2v GT motor. The Saleen blower is an M90 which is alot smaller. && another right answer on the Saleen lower. i hear those things are crap. anybody know if the roush lower would do any better? some of the Roush cars had an identical m90 set-up but i dont know much about the lower intakes they use. (and i have never seen one for sale either)

I never had that problem. Now I get little jerk in 5th at light cruise in 5th since I have done the heads and intake also. But think with a little tweaking we can get it out the next time.
