what will i be looking at for gains with a sct tuner

so far this is what the car has for engine performance

bbk l/t's
upr x pipe
maganflow mufflers
steeda u/p
roush cai

other shyt is the mgw short throw and the 4.10s with nitto 315 d/r's


i plan to get a sct tuner today form a friend but curious to know what all i can do with it and what im looking at for performance gains i know it wont be like 15rwhp but just want an idea

the car made 255rwhp and 295rwtq through 4.10s with what it has now

would say 5 hp or so. The tuner isn't about adding horsepower. It's about making the car run better and use what hp it does have more efficiently.

Assuming they guy you're gettig it from has used it, I believe I heard you'll have to send it to sct bc it will be locked to his VIN number and they will have to switch it to your VIN number for it to work on your car. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought I had read this before.

i dont think they are if ithe tune is taken off the car before tryimg to put it on another car

I'm not sure. I know in the focus community whenever someone sold one they had to send it to sct to have to VIN changed. This was with Excalibur 2 and 3. At least I think that's what it was called...?

if its half locked then you can plug it into your computer and unlocked it but if the guy didnt return his car back to stock then you have to get it unlocked by sct.

hopefully he did the thing is i dont know if it came off his 03 cobra it wont work with the 2v will it or can a shop mess with it

As long as the car returned it back to stock its fine. You wont gain too much from a tune with the mods you have listed, but it will drive better and be safer, I am willing to bet you are running a bit lean right now. Also, have you had your speedo corrected for 4.10s? Keep in mind a tuner can do that too.

Also another thing to remember, the sct isn't going to do anything, you will have to get someone to write you a tune for it.

well this sucks just when i thought i was gonna get a tuner for 200 bucks i find out its for a 03 cobra and needs to get a custom tune on it and xxx motorsports chargers 250 for a street tune fuck 450 dollars for a tune

Read the post above, it doesn't matter if its for a GT, cobra, v6, whatever, you will still have to get a custom tune written, every car is different. Joe @ Trick Tuners only charges 100 and does great work.
