the main bearing are different. Whats the difference in the cranks besides 6 holes vs. 8 holes? That shouldnt change the bearings huh?

Ya but that wouldnt make a difference in block design or crank would it? I compared them on my 96 and 01 gt they look like they would interchange.

That's what keeps the bearings from spinning.

Hey baker, be careful, the modular engine is a very finiky engine, all the tolerences are extremly close, and everything has to be perfect, all the clearences, torque specs, everything. Trust me, i built several push rod motors in the past and i am a diesel engine mechanic in the military, so i figured what the hell, i tried building my own modular a few years ago and lets just say i wasted about 5 grand, now im not questioning your buddies mechanical skills, but i would deal with someone who has alot of experience building modular engines. And make sure you have all the right equipment to build this moter, inside mic, outside mic, ect. ect. I would just hate to hear about someone ending up in the same boat i was in.
