lighs dim when i use certain buttons?? ideas??
Ok, when i for example use the window motors or anything electrical that has i high current draw, my lights dim, the strange thing is that i doubt its my alternator because my car starts fine all the time every time, so if it was my alternator it wouldnt be charging so i would have some starting problems correct? Maybe a ground or something.
I have no problems with it but i would like to fix it. Any ideas?? |

no UDP's i know i should check the voltage with a multimeter but im lazy jaja, And i have yet to do an alternator load test, but again, if it were the alternator, the lights wouldnt dim when i rev the engine, to produce more output, But it still does. yea exactly after the windows go up and you hold it a little longer

It's just drawing too much power. The window motor needs more power to get the windows up so it pulls away some of the power in the lights (simple way to explain it...I could do a more detailed, but would take a long time lol)

Well I have UDP's and I lowered my idle rpm's with my xcal3, and my head lights dim, and the AC air flow goes down(when on full blast) when I'm stopped.

udp's shouldnt affect anything electrical. udp sets come with a bigger alt. pulley so it still charges correctly. your lights dimming is a mustang thing. every stang ive driven does this.

I would still do a load test to the alternator and see how many amps it can put out.
Using other accessories really shouldn't be that noticable.

Could also be a ground problem.

or a voltage drop issue to the battery.... I'd still start by load testing the alt...

That is why I run a kinetik hc600 in the trunk as an alternate. It helps but I still get a slight dim when it gets real cold. It's connected to my primary battery via 4guage stinger power and ground. I've noticed it in every mustang I've been in to. Just a poor stock electrical design.
