MPG 410 gears

Well I took a two hour drive to another town and decided to see what kind of mpg I could get with the 410 gears. So when I had stock gear i could get 28mpg @ 75mph and now I get 22mpg @ 75mph, so good god those gears suck up some gas.

if you factor in the acceleration increase and just the overall perfomance of the car though, the gears are definetly worth it mpg vs 3-4 tenths off of your et gears are worth it. i got like 25 mpg 70-75 all the way to michigan from here tacking about 2200 to 2300 all the way there which for such a tall gear i think these cars do great! if you were to run an old carb car with 410's you would be lucky to get 8 mpg lol if you want performance there are some sacrifices but they are worthy ones. doesn't the 2nd to 3rd shift pull so much harder!

If you get 6mpg I would hope it was a race car because my buddy's cobra gets 19mpg and he makes 617rwhp.

Yes. I drive 500 miles per week and get 20 mpg in combine city/highway/interstate driving. If I got 6 mpg I'd trade the Mustang off. At $2.80 per gallon my weekly gas bill would go from $70 per week to $233 per week.

Combined my supercharger and 3.73 gears dropped my average gas mileage from 23 to 20. That only added $10 to the week drive. Well worth it.

I don't imagine he expected it to go up but he may have been reading posts from 4.10 advocates on the forums that say there's very little loss in gas mileage.
