I guess I just can't understand how it is not needed under 600 rwhp. That is a ridiculous amount of power and any manufacturer on earth would have a forged crank as standard equipment at that rating. Also, Anyone who is building a motor is looking for max power and probably using the car as such, meaning high amounts of stress on the motor not to mention the obvious....enough is never enough. Get to 450, u want 500...get to 500, you'll eventually be at 600. Do it right and you will not be rebuilding it again, which costs even more money...and time. As for ANY cast crank handling anywhere near 600 rwhp reliably for an extended period of time I find unthinkable.

^opinion is nice but SOOOO many cars running around at 600+ on cast cranks and never a problem. I understand what you are saying tho. why do it twice over 300 or so bucks. But these things are pretty tough!

I will have to respectifully disagree ,I have been running a 514ci ford cast crank(yes thats .300 shaved off a 2.5 rod journal) with 15:1cr on methanol mech. inj, mech. roller cam with 330* dur at .690 lift at 8000 rpm for years in tractor pulling competion with NO issues

edit: I am referring to cast crank ability, not the common sense of using a forged crank in high hp applications, I did not have a forged crank(affordable and available) for my application at the time
