Well you have stock manifolds which would be shorty type. I have Pypes o/r x and the reason I went with that was because it was stainless steel and it was 180$. The only thing you need to get is mil eliminators which will stop your engine light from coming on and you will need 02 wire extension and I think I paid 50$ for mil and 35$ extension.

Yes, this is how it goes headers which come down the motor into the x or h pipe which has the cats and then into the catback. Now you can get an x-pipe with high flow cats but those run from 300-500 dollars and if you get an off road x-pipe which deletes the cats they run from 160-300 depending on which brand you get.

The only way to decide what exhaust to go with is to see which sound you like the best, do some searches to hear the differences and compare prices. I would always choose a stainless system and as blackvert said, pypes makes a cheap stainless x pipe, though I've heard that pypes has fitment issues, it seems like a good buy. Keep in mind there are slight differences in power and sound between an x pipe and h pipe. If you go catless you will get a check engine light but as stated, MIL's will clear that right up. Do research to make sure you buy something good and something you want, since it seems like you don't know much about exhaust this will help you understand how our systems work. http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/musta...st-diagram.jpg

How long until you are ready to purchase? I have an excellent condition Magnaflow Tru-X O/R-X that will be coming up for sale after the New Year. It is a stainless unit, and I will be selling for a good price. Let me know if you are interested.

i have quite a few diff. UPR products on my car. they are priced very good and so far i have had zero fitment issues. they seem to be a good quality product.

but back on topic, i think Bassani X's are pretty bad@$$

I have BBK's o/r "x" pipe.... Simply said, I love it.

Although I have noticed with the aftermarket exhaust set up i do throw o2 Censor code pretty often. Usually the front two.

never heard of UPR...

to the OP, if you want a great sounding exhaust for your stang, you need to get some MAC Long Tube headers, MAC Prochamber(thats wat MAC calls theyre off-raod H-pipes bc of the design) and keep your stock catback with the flows. itll sound BEAST!!

heres a link to the MAC website

Mac Performance - performance accessories for cars, trucks, and motorcycles

another thing, When it comes to exhaust systems, you want to buy the whole setup from the same brand i.e. Steeda, BBK or MAC to avoid fitment issues.

UPR does not have great quality. You are better off finding a good quality used one IMO. You can find good quality x pipes from Bassani, Magnaflow and Mac for sale for cheap.

As for MAC, they offer 3 designs. X, H, and ProChamber. All of the designs have different sounds. It seems like a lot of people are fans of ProChambers. I myself am as well.

While similar it is very different.

In H pipes exhuast gases merge in tube that is restrictive and does not allow full scavenging.

In X pipes the exhaust pulses pass each other in the x and help draw the gases out allowing for better scavenging.

The PC allows the gases to collect in the chamber and merge. This is said to allow the best scavenging. The chamber also acts as a resonator of sorts giving the cleanest sound.
