Winter project
Now that winter is officially here I have parked my GT in the garage for the time being. I want to put down some cash into my car to get it ready for the races. My end goal is not built a drag racing car but to build a closed circuit car. I already made my mind up about what Forced Induction I plan on using, twin turbo, either from HP or Hellion. Since the stock block can handle around 450hp I plan on buying a short block and building it up from there. The problem I am having is choosing which block to go with. Should I stick with a 4.6L block or just go bigger? At the same time I want the car to drive good on the streets, although it is not my daily driver. When it comes to compression ratio, piston sizes, etc., I am not at all experienced. Any help would be appreciated.

try searching it. every day 2 or more threads are started about block questions on turbo and supercharging motors.

Keep your stock iron 4.6L block man. No need to go bigger bore IMO. The 4.6l will rev faster which will be better to get out of turn with. And your will make more than enough power with a forged 4.6l. A 5.4l is more of a torque motor..from what I have learned on here atleast. Which torque is good but you dont need 600rwhp plus for closed circuit. YOu want snappy revs and quick spools to get into your powerband as quick as possible in the straights. I think a HP 57mm twin/single will be plenty for your application. Also I think HP is a little cheaper then Hellion and is a great turbo kit.

go with mmr stroker 950 rotating assembly. And a close friend of mine got there custom cams and he wont shut up about how good they are. They also have notched pistons if you choose a cam that requires them. And sometimes i wont shut up about how good there motor are either
![]() linky:Modular Mustang Racing go to products, then modular engine componants, and is almost to the bottom, rotating assemblies. go to 2v parts, and about 3/4 ways down is the turbo cams and there is the heads in there too (trick flows and ported stockers). |

pistons
18cc=9.5 to 1 compression 23cc=8.9 to 1 depending on how much boost will depend on piston, but my guess is 6 to 12psi, 9.5 to 1 comp. and 12psi and up go with the 23cc for 8.9 to 1. So basically the more boost you have the less c.r. is required. Hope this helped. |
