Valve cover PAINT poll and QUESTIONS
So i decided that i might as well have my valve cover's painted while they're off for the cams install, but what color should i get them painted?
BUT FIRST i have some questions 1. I'm sure that the engine bay gets hot especially in the summer, but is it enough to mess up a spray paint job? will i have to use high heat spray paint? 2. Do i really have to sand them and all or can i just clean the grease off and then paint over that? If not, will a light scuffing of the covers work if not the above suggestion? does anyone have a write up or a how to on how to do this? I'm sure it's not hard. EDIT: I might put the Yay Taco symbol on it just for shits and giggles, if i have enough time. Unfortunately, i probably wont.

You will need to be absolute sure they are CLEAN! and then you will for sure want to scuff up what you are painting.

How long does it take to put the valve covers back on once everything else is done?

painting the engine colors all differnet colors of the rainbow and makin ur engine look like a bowl of lucky charms is kinda ricey... so i would say paint the covers the same color, or maybe a burgandy, as your car.
regular spray paint would prob suffice but why do it half ass?! id go ahead and scuff em up and use a high temp paint cuz the last thing u want is the paint comin off or peeling THEN youd have to REPAINT them and thats just not kool

i may just spray paint the Yay Taco letters on the covers instead of the actual taco image itself.

1. sand the covers with like 800 grit
2. sand the covers with like 1000+ grit 3. clean the covers off with water pouring onto them 4. let them cure 5. use a High heat paint that you can get from any auto store choose whatever color you want. spray atleast from a 3-5 inch distance. then let that layer dry and then proceed to the next layer. I say 2 or 3 layers should be good. put light layers dont bloch up the paint or spray a thick layer. Ive done this many times with engine vavle covers, head covers, headers, intake manifolds etc. for heads 750 degree is good enough you really dont need the 1000 degree paint not really needed I think its a little over kill. Anyways have fun with it.

Red with silver/alum. color ribs
If you go to an autobody paint supply store they can tell you what paint to use and hook you up with custom colors

Red and silver ribs sounds pretty good now, actually. kinda like a bright torch red and silver, but with a grainy feel to it. Only problem is how will i get the grainy feel?

I would paint them the same color as the car.
You could always toss something custom on there as well, like a name or something.

Trick flow sells a pair of nice valve covers for $190 on summit. They look nice but I don't have trick flow stuff on ma car so I don't want a logo.
