Now that I can post pics again, here are some of the teardown. Went off without a hitch. I have been slacling a bit but once I get my shipment in it is game on. The block is back from the machine shop. All it needed was a bath, no wear at all on the walls or anything for that matter. Heads go in tommorow to be cleaned and speaking of, I want to make it clear that I hate fucking valve springs. Talk about a PITA. Still hunting down a few parts for the actual swap but the longblock build is comming here really soon. Oh yah, here are the pics.

no hone, engine had only 1,XXX miles on it so it is unmolested. Saved me a lot of dough in machine work.

is this a plug and play deal? Ive read a good bit of info on the 3v swap (enough to get me interested) but i have a couple questions, yall can pm me if you prefer. i know I'd need the LMS locks, but do they just slip in or is it a pita? does the 2v injector harness plug into the 3v injectors, or would i need to splice on the 3v plugs? does the 2v computer need to be re-calibrated to run the 3v, or will it fire up and run? (as in can i hook everything up and start the car and drive it 80 miles to the tuner, or will it have to be towed/trailer-ed?) and how much of a pain are the header adapters?
i got more questions, but just cant think of them right now. lol

The phaser locks are solid and ther is no play in them. The instal is pretty simple but you must be careful with the spring. You can splice the injector plugs or there are adapters for them. The computer will alow you to run the motor without a tune however you want one to get the full power of the 3V and to not throw codes. You could drive it to your tuner with no issues. You need at least a 2.5 cowl hood to clear the intake on the 3V though

Yeah what are the biggest specifics of dropping one of these bad boys in. Like motor mounts ect. The little things that make an easy swap a pita.

motor mounts you use the 2v mounts, adapters for the headers cobra throttle body and cable, and a few other nick nacks, but the motor itself drops right in

Hey guys. I have been gone for a while because I am out of the Navy now and was in school for my UAV contractor job. I am in Afghanistan as we speak so no car love for me in the near future. As far as updates.....The forged 3V has been in for a while now with no issues. I didnt have an issue with the cam sensors so I dont know how to help you. Maybe check you sensors, witing, or tune? Once the phasers are locked it works the same as timming a 2V. I used stage 3 crower cams so I purchased an adjustable sprockets to degree them. I was going SLA on the 99 but with my new job I am going to elevate my stable with an RCR SL-C.
