Cobra Donor Car?

I need some opinions from you guys. I was looking at my plans for my car, and a lot of what I want to do came stock on the Terminators. So do you guys think it would be a good idea for me to just buy a wrecked cobra donor car and use the stuff from it to put on my GT? Here's kind of what I've been running through my head.

Here are upgrades I wanted to do to my GT that I could take from the Termi, I also listed approximately what it would cost me to buy separate:
Longblock (forged internals, blower, 4v heads) = $4000
T-56 Trans = $1500
Crossmember = $100
Aluminum DS = $100
31 Spline Carrier = $100
Front brake setup = $350
Total Savings ~ 6000

Things I could sell from my GT and approximate price:
Long block = $1000
Procharger setup = $3000
3650 Trans = $500
28 spline carrier = $50
Short throw = $100
MAF = 250
Total Cash~4750

Then I could sell other stuff off the cobra
Wiring Harness = $50
Gauge Cluster = $100
Computer = $100
Exhaust Manifolds = $50
IRS = $100
Wheels/Tires = $500
Misc Crap = $100
Total = $1000

What do you guys think? Would it be a dumb thing to do? I don't want to throw around a bunch of money unless it will save me in the end.

^^ gotta agree with this guy. i have seen what you have mentioned done, but it was by a guy that worked at a shop and came into the parts for good prices, and it was still alot of cash by the time he was done. from a standpoint of cash, i wouldn't suggest it. however if you came across a great deal on a wrecked one, it would be a damn fun conversion so long as you have a daily driver to use in the process.

You could sell me the seats from the Cobra too. Make sure you buy a donor car with tan seat inserts

I like the idea. Not bad. I'd keep the Cobra Gauge cluster if I were you though...

dibs on rims/tires from the donor, along with any bumper/side skirts that are good.

good idea though I think.

I'd take the remaining IRS parts and your Termi A arms.

only flaw in this is nobody is gonna give away a wrecked cobra. IF you get lucky enough to have the connections to get one, you'll pay a stiff price for as complete a car as your talking about.

Well from the money side of it, I'm not looking at it from a "buying a wrecked car" standpoint. I'm looking at it as a buying built longblock, full 6 speed conversion, 31 spline carrier, fuel system upgrade, and cobra brakes all in one package. And I think I could get one decently cheap because I don't want any of the body or interior stuff from it.

My thoughts are that I'm going to end up spending a pretty penny on upgrades in the future because I want to upgrade the entire performance factor of my car. A forged shortblock, 4v heads, blower, 6 speed conversion, brakes, fuel tank, and 31 spline rear are basically all the performance mods I want to do. And these are all things that I could take from a cobra, so if I could find a wrecked one I might be able to save money in the end. Judging from the reaction from members on here it doesn't look like I'd have a hard time selling off the parts that I didn't use on my own car.

I'm just wondering if you guys think it would be cheaper to try to search for all of this stuff individually over time, or try to buy all of it at once.

Cobras are expensive. If I can buy a wrecked one for 10k, swap in the stuff from it, sell 1k worth of stuff off of it, and sell 4-5k worth of stuff off of my gt I'd only have 4-5k in all the upgrades from the cobra. Combine that with the fact that I got one hell of a deal on my GT and I could build my GT for about half of what a cobra would cost.
