How much is too much?

How high of a compression ratio can I run on gay ASS 91 octane? I found a guy selling a shortblock nearby for $1600 but it has almost a 12:1 CR (11.92:1 to be exact).

There's no way it's THAT low. I know guys on close to 11:1 on 91. I'm just wondering though if the 11:1 is as high as I can go or if 12:1 can be pulled off w/o having to go to race gas.

looks like alot of people are calling for 11:1 max, but recommending 93 for over 10.5:1 though.

thats just what i gathered from a short google search.

Hmm well read up a little bit and one guy was saying you could pull off 12:1 CR BUT you'd have to pull timing just to make it like pump gas.

you can run any compression just about on pump gas, you just cant utilize it on high compression.

yeah i would think you could run it but it just wont be able to get the most out of it. Im sure it will drive though. Remember I8... You have to hit 400rwhp n/a so you better be going high compression like a mother F-er! LOL!!!!

Ya ya Baker. lol. Well the only thing I don't like about the motor I found is that it is a "true" 4.6, not bored over or stroked, and I wanna do a stroker motor...

sounds to me like you need to buy you a rotating assembly and get at it. Dont buy one already built. Build it how you want it!

Ya that's what I'm thinking. I'm debating on finding a Teksid block or a current production Aluminum block for it. Where would be a good place to get a rotating assembly at? I know DSS Racing sells a set of their pistons w/ valve reliefs for the new TFS heads but I'm wondering if I can get that from somewhere else, say like MMR.

i got my kit from MMR and i will tell you... If you go on corral and talk to Mark@MMR, you will be able to work something out. He WILL come off his prices. He is the owner so he can do that. Just talk to him and see what he can do. Go on Corral.net and PM him in one of his classifieds threads.
