4.10s and...
Ok so I'm getting a used set of 4.10s from my buddy for a good deal, $80 and they only have 2500 miles on them. Assuming that the gears are perfectly fine, when I do the install, what else should I do? Not doing axles, or upgrading the differential. I'm planning on getting the carbon disc clutch packs for my TLOK. Anything else I need? Also, price is gonna be $180 w/ new bearings.

Dont put used gears in your car! They wear differently in every car depending on how they where installed. Your car will have rear end whine like a bitch. Save another 80 bucks and buy a new set.

I have put used gears in a car and it didn't turn out. Just spend the extra money and get new ones.

Well since new gears are not an option. New bearings, clutches, axle bearings, and everything that will wear faster cause you have gears in the rear end that wont sit right....

We just told you.
When you put gears in a car. There is a break in period they will wear in a certain way as to how they are installed and yes you can install gears with too much or to little back lash and this will make them whine and wear different. But depending on how you install them they will wear a certain way. And wear in a way that is specific to this car, the driver tendencys, the amount of heat the rear end went through etc, etc. Would you put used main bearings or lifters in a car? No. Its the same concept

why go through all that for 20 bucks? You dont have to lie to me.... I know you will use the used ones. LOL. But i will say that i would use some used ones if i was the one that installed them in the prior car and knew the history of them and knew they were quiet and inspected the SHIT out of them to be sure there was NO WEAR!!! So... in the end, it would be safer to just get some new ones. And 80 bucks is better than new but still not good enough. If he went down to 40 bucks.... i have to go with them! lol.

FRPP 4.10 Gears - $139 (free shipping) FRPP TLOK Rebuild Kit - $124.95 (free shipping) UPR Rear End Stud Girdle - $109.98 (shipping included) Gear Install and TLOK Rebuild - $180 Grand Total - $553.93 Doesn't look too bad. Also, the UPR Rear End Stud Girdle on the website is priced at $119.99, before shipping, but in all of the UPR adds in 5.0 Mustangs and Muscle Mustangs, the ad says $99.99 so I think I can talk them down to that
