Anyone tried this? (Fake Cats)

Catalytic Converter

I want a O/R mid-pipe, but they inspect your car, and look for cats if it's a decent loudness. If there are no cats, it doesn't pass. There is no emission test , just a site test.

I wonder how well this would work.

Instead of hollowing it out you can just take the skins and put it around yours then self tap the together and remove them when you get home.

I was thinking about doing that above. How much louder is a O/R pipe than one with cats? I don't want to be TOO obnoxious... I want the O/R midpipe because it's CHEAPER.

My parents hollow out the mufflers for all our muscle cars, they've been doing it for 40 years. Cats are the same way nowadays. If you cut something open and weld it back shut, just make sure you do it to the side of the muffler/cat that will be up against the body so the person doing the visual inspection can't see that it's been cut open.

Or I can just take you to my guy on southside and he'll put a sticker on it for you regardless of what you've done.

Yea. The guy Freddie that does a lot of work for me knows this other guy. As long as you tell him that Freddie sent you, he'll just throw a sticker on it.

Kind of a hole in the wall type of place, but he does the stickers. Don't even have to line his pockets, although I usually throw him another 10 or so.

I could see those working even better since it smooth all the way through.

Id just weld the heat sheilds from my stock cats to the mid pipe, its just a visual inspection anyway.

slikirish, would your guy know how to install a procharger/vortech?

The first thing I wanna do is lower it, get new tires, then get 3.73, midpipe/exhaust/tune.

Then a STS, then boost it.

I'm not sure about superchargers. He builds race cars and I know he doesn't used forced induction on his cars so I don't know. I know he can do rear ends, suspension, tranny, internal motor work, etc. I'll call him and see about the supercharger. I know if he can't do it then he'll just tell me he can't do it.

Edit: Just talked to Freddie. I was reading your list off to him and he said he could do all of that. About the supercharger he said when you get the kit, he would like to see it and look at the instructions that come with it. He's never done one before but says from what he knows about it them, it wouldn't be that difficult. So in other words, he's willing to do it, but he hasn't done one before.

When you're ready to lower it, ect, let me know and I'll hook you up with him to get the work done.
