check gas cap light on help please

will i have a 02 stang gt i put gas in like 3 days ago and now i have a check gas cap light on i look at it and took of off and put it back on but the same what do to fix it help please

well you can reset the computer on any car which is what i suggest trying just unplug the battery for 30 sec then se what it does

i don't think mustangs have that feature.

no prob mine was saying i needed radiator fluid did that it stoped and hasnt come back on ..btw it was full lol

when ever a light comes on thats how check if its a glitch or something real if its something real it will come back on

I don't think my Bullitt has that light either. I feel cheated. LOL

Ya mine does that sometimes too. If you dont reset the computer and let it go, the SES light will come on.

Yeah it takes something like 80 key cycles for that to reset...best way to fix it is to check your gas cap make sure it is well seated and if it is in bad repair replace it then do like said above with the battery...

Check GAS cap light? Thats like a "check to see if car is running" light...Regardless this is the first problem Ive heard about recently that almost sounds like my problem with my fuel filler pipe not sealing correctly and making the check engine light come on...the check engine light which by the way went off suddenly two days ago...Obviously the problems not fixed but....

Did you pump your gas with the engine on? In my old Mitsubishi Galant that would do it. You were supposed to turn the car off and make sure the cap was back on tightly before restarting the car. It had something to do with fuel line pressure. If the light comes on it takes a while for the car to cycle through the check of it's system at which time the light would go off. Mine took a week.
