Manifold Choice

Soo I my mechanic said that ive have a bad manifold gasket that needs to be changed because im loosing my coolant. since im doing the fix myself and im gonna be taking the manifold off anyways I was debating on just changing the manifold itself too. anyone suggest a different manifold because im getting mixed opinions saying that after market ones arent worth the money. just curious

Is that SOCH or DOHC Manifold? I can't find a listing for a DOHC intake on Edelbrock.

If i were you I would just keep the stocker and save the money. The stock intake is a very good design and works great

That's the SOHC manifold.

96-current GTs have SOHC engines from the factory.

Agreed. But if you have plans of going with Nitrous, or supercharger in the future, you could upgrade. Could just do it to give the engine bay a half way decent look.

Professional Products has the Typhoon Intake...Looks good, I dont think it has any real gains. The Foxlake P-51 Intake is badass. The Trickflow Intake is sick. Just some ideas. The cheapest is the Typhoon Intake though.

Your right, it actually takes power away. It flows like crap and also being cast aluminum which is pretty thick, gets heat soaked and stays hot for a long time, hurting performance

Yup, I forgot to add that. So if your into loosing power for looks, go with the Typhoon intake..lmao.

But unless your going nitrous, or supercharger it'll help you in the long run. Thier "supposed" to make like 25rwhp at like 6500rpm. But Our motors dont spin that high. So me personally, I wouldnt get it.

The typhoon is cheap, and so it the Edelbrock..

Intake 289.99
Rails 99.99
FRPS adapter fittings $30
Fittings and hoses $50ish

The Edelbrock makes insane improvements over stock when boosted or high RPMs. With my turbo cams I turn my motor to 7400, so I see nice benefits from it up top.

You forgot about the adapter plate for stock style plenum or custom upper.

How much hp at 7400 does your car make? Do you have a graph you could post??

I just made my adapter plate out of a sheet of steel plate I had here. Plasma and magic marker work wonders. Only thing I bout was a carb flange gasket. I had the tap and bolts and such already here. Will have new dyno sheet with turbo instead of blower next week. Ill post that then. I dont have a sheet from my dynos with the blower. We wont discuss my numbers, kinda embarassed. I have a fully built car, with a baby v2 sq si, over spinning it by 10,000rpm. 600hp range isnt going to cut it for me.. I should be making 800hp range next week.

Is the elderbrock intake a good bang for the buck part? Could i do it instead of a Pi intake swap?

Yes, it is a fresh built DOHC with a Teksid block and the stock Cobra intake. The intake is that good?
I'm new to the MOD motor so I'm learning as I go, and the curve is steep. A lot of variations in 19 years.

you're imbarassed about your numbers, but say you made nice gains.
Also most people cant make there own plate.
The edelbrock is not for a stock shortblock engine.
OP should just get another PI intake. My car over 600rw with stock pi.

I have the same problem, I'm thinking thirty dollar gaskets instead of a new intake
