good idea / bad idea? hood scoop mesh??

So I have mesh that matches my saleen side skirts, and I've cut it to fit my hood scoop.. but I"m not so sure about? I have enough to swap out the standard roush backing in the bumper also.. so it would be the same mesh all over...

anyway take a look the pics are not great becuase it's snowing outside so I can't back the car out for a good shot..

Its ok but it reminds me of a few years back when every civic you saw had that mesh stuffed in every hole on the front of their car.

Maybe if you paint the mesh black?

HA! yeah.. I only did it becuase I have a 'knight rider' light in there.. so I had to make an acrylic piece for it, and I wanted to put something in there..

As for paint..
yeah, that's what I was thinking, I've got some yellow to match too.. not sure... it def dosen't look as good as I thought it would.. once the weather breaks I'll have to look at it again.. I haven't 'commited' it yet.

When I had my GT, I researched threads about people attempting to make that scoop functional similar to the mach1, with a intake tube that supplies added fresh air to the filter.

Turns out, the biggest drawback was ones that tried ended up with the scoop breaking off at high speeds. I guess that the fasteners that hold it on the hood are very flimsy. With the front opened up, enough air will be forced under it, and try to lift it off the hood.

IMO, leave the stock piece in there. It looks better then chicken wire anyway!

i agree paint it black and maybe cut one that fits alil better and it should look pretty good.

Thanks guys.. that one actually fits really good I just layed it on to take a look.. I'll probbably paint it and see.

Can't put the stock one in, you won't see the lights if I do that..

There is no way I'm trying to make this hood functional.. my intake is droped in front of my right side right now..

havent hood scoops blown off hoods before going down the interstate when someone takes out the factory grill? I thought it was a must to reinforce it back to the hood.
