Wheel horsepower or crank? Cause GT's make 260hp at the crank.

LT1's make only 275hp at the crank. Which is kind of gay for a 350ci motor

everytime i go out and do 40 rolls with my buddies like in the pheonixevo/mofo/myws6 videos its always to 130-170.

im not saying the OP is going to be going 130+ in his bolt on gt against a lt1. but if theyre already starting at 40 the lt1 is already moving and starts breathing good when the gt starts dying out between 80-90.

i raced my buddies lt1s and ls1s in my gt when i had intake, exhaust, gears, tune and id hang untill 75ish then theyd start pulling away untill 110-120

the arguement im making is that the gt even though it is underpowered by alot more than most of us would like to admit. holds its own at the strip and often is a drivers race at the strip. however, from a roll it can hardly be called a drivers race.

they were rated at 275 at the crank if that were so lt1s would be making 23Xrwhp. they are 300hp engines but are underrated. the lt1s with an intake can make the same horsepower at the wheels that a stock 2v makes at the engine.

Maybe thats so, but it doesnt come out of the factory with an intake. They may have been underrated too, but the fact is LT1's and P.I GT's run the same 1/4 mile. Depending on the driver.

Cobras were underrated from the factory, so werent Mach 1's. Track times are the best way to find out. Unless your doing roll races.

Waste of money. You'll accually lose horsepower and torque. Its good for Nitrous, and supercharged motors.

You could get cams. Say HiTech stage 2 which are $600, then $200 for valve springs. You dont NEED valve springs, since you have high milage motor I definatley would.

thats what the argument is im agreeing with rags that at the track it is most definitely a drivers race. but from a roll when your already moving and is more of a top end race there is alot bigger of a gap.
