How to Seafoam a Mustang

Ok I'm tired of people asking how. So im doing a writeup with a video at the bottom. Seafoaming is safe for your car if done properly. It will reawaken some of your old power. All it is is a very powerfull cleaning solution. You should change your oil fairly soon after seafoaming your car. I did an oil change right after i did this. You can go a few days or a week or two. But I did it right after to be safe. This whole thing takes no more then 10 minutes tops

TOOLS:

Can of seafoam ($9.99)
Funnel
Rag
Freinds (optional)

Step 1.
Open seafoam cap, pull circle tab. This will open the can.

Step 2.
Locate a vacum line or a brake booster line. I use the line right under the IAC valve. Its about a half inch hose that goes to the passenger side PCV valve. Pull it off the hard hose and keep it attached to the throttle body.

Step 3. Put the rag under the hose. Then stick the funnel up to the hose. WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. Pour the seafoam into the hose. Try to pour about 1/3 to 1/2 of the can into it. Try not to stall the car while your doing this. When your done shut the car off. Reconnect the hose.

Step 4.
You have to pour 1/3 of it into your crank case. To do this you have to pour it into your oil. So open the oil cap. Use the funnel and pour it into the oil. Pour about 1/3 to 1/2. Put the cap back on the valve cover.

Step 5.

Pour whatevers remaining into your gas. This is optional. If you use injector cleaner you really dont need to do this.

Step 6.
Let the car sit for about 5-10 minutes.

Step 7.
Start the car and let it idle for 1-5 minutes. Then rev the car for a while. It will smoke alot. If it scares you calm down. Its normal. It will smell really bad. Kind of like squishing a stink bug, if you have those in your area. Also dont be suprised if you see liquid coming out your exhaust. Sometimes it clear and sometimes it looks like sludge. That was in your engine, arnt you glad its not anymore.

Step 8.
Go for a high reving drive. A short one but get the rest of the seafoam out. You may see light smoke for a day or so. Thats normal.

Any questions feel free to PM me. We should stick this

Heres the video.

Great vid and writeup dude! I use that same hose on my car to seafoam it- I've always grabbed a cup and just let the engine sip the seafoam in, but I guess a funnel works, too! Reps!
