12's n/a stock gears?

How many think it's possible? I'm going to atempt going 12's n/a with the stock gears, full weight and bolt-ons only(stock long block). I've been told by a few locals it can't be done but I want to try and prove them wrong.

Already been done, by your one and only F8L GT! he did have 410's though, but a few bolt ons can make up for those.

as or running stock gear, i dont see it happening on full weight or stock long block. not enough power for too heavy of a set up.

I've been told it's impossible to do on stock gears.

With a good set of 15" wheels and tires and suspension you may be able to do it, Granted it wont be stock weight anymore. but you would have to be the best driver and have a miracle to pull it off

you lack the power to do it "full weight". you will have to start putting the ol gal on a diet if you want to do it stock gears and stock long block.

By full weight I mean nothing taken out. I've got sfc's,dbl adj uca's,lca's and I've unhooked my front sway bar but I haven't been back to the track since oct of 09 as our track closes during the winter.

stock weight and gears, theres not enough power to get the car rolling quick enough, especially since your adding weight (sfc, controls probably weigh a little more since they arent just stamped sheet metal)

My 13.35 pass was on 27" tall dirt track tires with a 1.85 60' my best street tire pass was a 13.61 on 275/40/17's with a 2.10 60'. I've got a set of 245/50/16 555r's that I'm gonna try them. If I can get the car to cut a low 1.8 on dr's it should run 13.1's and then I can add my headers that have been sitting for the last 2yrs,a spec s2+ clutch, aluminum flywheel and aluminum driveshaft.

your cutting weight down with the aluminum ds and flywheel so why even bother keeping the sway bar in the trunk?

It's still full weight as nothing is going to be removed(ie spare,Jack, seats ect). And I'm using the aluminum ds and fw to help the motor rev faster not for the unsprung weight.

the aluminum flywheel will also let it derev faster while shifting, wont have the momentum to keep the rpms up like the steel one

It's not in there yet. I really only bought it because it came with the spec clutch which I paid 225 for both and they only gave 2k miles on them and look to be in great shape. I normaly don't wot shift and I know that if I use the al fw then I'll have to start wot shifting in order to keep rpm's high. I'm hoping it works out but I'll just have to see.

I Dont Think Your Listening To Waht These Other Knowledgable Guys Are Telling You. You Asked A Question And They Have Repeated The Answer To You Multiple Times, But You Keep Arguing. Yes It Can Be Done, But It Will Be Very Difficult With Full Weight And Stock Long Block. You Are Not Going To Make Enough Power To Get The Car Rolling Out Hard Enough. Lose 2-300 Pounds And It Would Be Possible

I'm sorry I'm not trying to argue. Ok let me ask this then who has tried it? Somebody must have tried it in order for there to be a clear answer right? And since you guys don't think I can hit 12's how low in the 13's do you guys think I can get? And I'm just asking questions to find answers that'll make mod choices easier such as gear choice so I don't go to steep on spray but get good gains n/a.

There's a guy that runs at Atco Raceway that runs an 2004 in the high 12s on a good day who's got a stock longblock with all the boltons. I think he's got 4.10s though, with a stick shift. He runs Hoosier DOT race tires on Welds with skinnies in the front. I think the stock 3.27 gear is going to keep you out of the 12s. I think 4.10s are almost a necessity with nothing but bolt-ons.
