IM CONFUSED.
Maybe I read to much.

I have an 04 w/ green lights. I know some of the 99-04's had blue interior lights already, just really dim...

Anyways is this saying that: With my GREEN interior lights, I can pull the gauge cluster out. Switch ONLY the bulbs to white LEDs that it will make it glow BLUE instead ?

Or do I need to do that sanding Bullshit too ?

Did you read any of the thread? He put different bulbs in the HVAC and he stated that the odometer numbers still were green.

Not sure how you're coming up with Green + White = Blue. If you put white bulbs in there, you'll get green lights showing through.

If you have a green film on your gauges you're going to have to sand it off and put in blue bulbs if you want blue light.

Bottom line:
In order to get rid of the baby diahrea green, you must take the face off the cluster, sand down the back of it, re-install cluster with the face, and install whatever color LED light you want.

It's not that hard to sand off the green either, just make sure you get it all

Bump for a question. Is there a green film behind the HVAC faceplate? I took it out but couldn't figure out how to pop off the front plate to get to the film underneath.

Edit: Nvm it said there was blue tint in the original post. Hoping thats right

As to the person who asked how to get the knobs to not be green, you just pull them off and push the green plastic piece out with a screwdriver. It looks white when the car's off

Six, it depends on year also, my HVAC has green lighting, you have to pop off that black piece and do some custom work. Their is a write up somewhere on here.

shit, hoping mine doesnt. Already ordered the bulbs so if it isn't blue enough for me I'll go from there. Is it a film like the gauge cluster?

I'm pretty sure the 99-00 have blue film, and the 01-04 have green. I have a 2000 and it's def blue. Can't wait to do this mod.

My Gauges:

Not 100% complete. I am putting a transparent blue plastic in front of the odometer to filter it blue. Also Im switching the traction control & defroster 'green bulbs' over to blue led to compliment the gauges, on SuperBrightLEDs they are neo3 and neo4 bulbs. Also swapped out the entire bottom row of bulbs in gauge cluster. Used all white leds, resulting in a combination of red & yellow. Do not swap out the air bag light because that bulb only dims while running so you'll always have the faint yellow glow on your gauges. I Can post more pictures when complete if anyone is interested.

Here is a write up I made:

DIY: LED SWAP

99/00 clear film
01-04 blue and green film. Sand film off install
LEDs and done. Of blue film and want blue led just install blue leds without sanding.

If you want to take the green hue out of the odometer, don't use an incandescent bulb, go to the local truckstop and get super white LED's. They work for this whole project also.

Truckdrivers like to fuck with this shit as much (or more) as we do.

I changed all my interior lights to a blue hue on my 1997. It worked perfect for the dash cluster, HVAC and interior light. I could have added them to the license plates, etc., but I had to draw the line somewhere.

I still have a shitload of bulbs.
