How to reinforce front strut towers (does 56k still exist?)
As you all might already know, there is added stress to our front strut towers once we switch to a coil over setup. I’m pretty sure there might be other ways to reinforce them, but this is how I did it. My strut tower looked like a bubble, from when i bottomed out a couple of times, when it should be flat.
First remove your strut assembly from the strut tower. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is who it looked after I flattened it out, forget to take a picture of how it was before, but just imagine a bubble. I used a sledge hammer to flatten it. ![]() ![]() I started with a piece of sheet metal, 4 ½” X 6” it was 3/16” thick. ![]() Next I shaped it to the general form of the underside of the strut tower. ![]() ![]() ![]() Next I made the hole were the strut rod goes through. I used a hole saw to make the hole, make sure when drilling through such a thick metal, to use WD-40 to lubricate and cool the hole saw, and drill bits. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is what is left, just discard it lol.

Next comes the holes were the lower perch bolts onto the strut tower.
![]() ![]() ![]() Now it time to place it on the strut. It basically acts like a huge washer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As you can see now how it spreads out the load as opposed as to who it was before.

Very nice, they should make this a sticky, but on a side note at the very least id quickly rough up the part you made and hit it with some etch primer. Bare steel sitting where it is (lots of water exposure etc) its just asking for rust.

You need to buy a good set of CC plates and you wouldn't have that problem!

CC plates wont work with my coilovers because: This part ![]() Has to be replaced with this one from the CC Plates ![]() But as you can see in the first pic, that part cannot be removed or replaced, that is what centers the spring on the strut rod. the gold part is part of the black part, unless comes apart, but i tried to and wont come off Now do you see why i cannot put CC plates with my coilovers? or does someone think the can help me? ![]()
