To be honest I think that they are the same thing. I bought a new procharger kit and it came with a bypass valve. Don't quote me on that though

They are different..there is a write up on here explaining the difference and I am trying to find it now. You can use either or but if you arent going above 12lbs there really is no need for a blow off valve or in other words race valve

yes. a bypass valve bypasses air back to the intake track, where as a blow off valve blows it off into the atmosphere. if you run a bypass valve open, that is not recirculating, then it essentially functions as a blow off valve.

that would be awesome if you could find that writeup ... honestly i love the sound of a blowoff valve never heard the bypass valve ill have to check youtube ... also with a bypass valve run open and a blowoff valve you have to have a blow-thru setup correct?

it will depend on where the maf is located.. if its a draw through maf and your purging air back into the intake before the maf your shits gona go all wacky (maf backwash kinda)

Blow through is better with tuning. Will have better drivability.

Welcome! No point in not doing it hehe. MAF's are about same price, unless you cheap out and go LMAF. Even if you don't DD the car, might as well get the most out of it!

I'm venting my ProCharger by-pass valve to atmosphere so technically it has become a blow-off valve. You have to have a blow through MAF and the blow-off valve has to be before the MAF. Typically its between the supercharger and the intercooler and the MAF is after the intercooler. I'm running a stock MAF with a Diablosport MAFia. Lightning MAFs can be used with a ProCharger. They just have to be tuned correctly to use them.

yep it should still run. as long as it's properly calibrated for the injectors. the procharger kit comes with a stock/lightning style MAF adapter so it should be pretty straight forward.

You can make a BPV into a BOV, but you can't (usually) make a BOV into a BPV. BPV is for a draw thru setup, BOV is for a blow thru setup. BOV with the HPX maf or 05+ slot maf / mafia work well.

Blow-Thru vs Draw-Thru MAF Setups
I think a Big Red Race valve can be a BPV or BOV...that one that is made for draw thru.
