ok I will of course delete it but is it less of a problem with autos sinc you dont take your foot of the gas to shift?

Do not grind the lip off of the nipple on the new pump! You will eventually have fuel leakage. I've already done a right on this over a year ago and I did not have to grind the nipple of the pump at all.

. If using the right fuel line you dont need to do any bs with the nipple, cutting some hose slipping it on, then slipping another hose off of that etc.

more holes drilled in the basket would be nice but good write up for sure. Maybe this will eliminate a daily post about how to install the GT pump. lol.

Hey guys whats up. I'm new here and have not been able to have my question answered anywhere else on this subject so maybe you guys can answer my question.
I'm almost finished with this install but there is one thing I'm still unsure of. Do you have to put shrink wrap or something over the electrical spade connectors to prevent a short or is it fine to leave them exposed to gas? Might be a dumb question, but I've read several different writeups on how to do this and not one of them discusses this. I can put everything back together once I figure this out. Thanks in advance. |

You can buy the stainless steel connectors that have the shrink tube built in. That's what I used, but at the very least you have to use stainless steel connectors.

![]() I'm not sure if you know what I mean Black bullitt. I have the same type of connectors that are in this pic. See the metal part that actually slides on to prongs of the GT pump? They are exposed in this pic. Can they be left this way or do they need to be insulated from the gasoline to avoid a short. Also look at where the fuel pump wires are attached to the hat. They are uninsulated at the ends and exposed to gas. How does this not result in a short? This really boggles my brain. |

That's how mine is setup and runs fine. Just make sure it's stainless steel and you'll be alright.

O.K. good. I just don't want to short out and ruin a new fuel pump and have to end up buying another one. I need my money for other parts and don't want to have to buy somehing twice.

I hear you...you'll be good with that setup. I've ran that way for roughly 11-12k miles and no issues.

Well I've seemed to run into a problem. I got everything put back together and went to put some fuel in my car. It ran fine.... at first.
After I put some fuel in it, it would start bucking while going down the road. It would come and go at times. Sometimes it would run fine and other times it would buck. I used the gates hose, deleted the pprv, and ran the hose straight from the pump to the hat using hose clamps.I'm suspecting an internal leak at one of the hose ends. What do you guys think? Is there anything else that would cause this? |

If you didn't change anything else, then you have an internal leak, or one of the pumps is not working. Datalog the fuel pressure and duty cycle.

I'm using a single pump in the stock tank so..... it's working. I'm currently not able to datalog yet at this point. I was putting this pump in to have that much out of the way when I install my supercharger.

you could have kinked the line if you did not loop it carefully, or shortened the hose

I did not cut the gates fuel hose and I used the whole one foot piece. I looped it around the way you said to and I checked it out real good by peeking through a small crack of the hat before I bolted it back on. When I put it in there was no kink in it so how do I fix this to avoid kinking the hose again?" |

you need clamps to hold hose on and get them tight. It shouldnt kink if you route it right.

but if I recall I installed hose on pump leaving clamp loose and postioned hose in tank to approx location it would be in with hat installed and then tightened clamp on pump. sometimes the hose needs to twist on nipple just right to avoid kinking, then installed on hat and did the same thing tightening at last moment, it can be done, but care has to be taken
