Just the plain (nothing but a straight piece) sfc. Clean metal, hold up and weld 4 points. 50-60 bucks is a payable price. Pay more with more welding points. Subframes with at least the seat mounting brackets tee'd in are a wise choice.

I guess I just don't trust muffler shops to do anything but exhaust. I found a good fabrication shop (two actually) in an hour away from me in Iowa. If I can find it in Iowa, you can find it anywhere because... well, Iowa sucks

You aren't going to be able to buy very good welding supplies for $50-$100. I agree it's a great thing to know though. I'm not great at it, but I can get metal to stick together I just practiced with my arc welder making metal boxes and stuff like that until I felt comfortable with it, and then I welded up my go cart frame. I can jump on my frame and it doesn't break, so I'm pretty confident it'll hold up.

Anyway, I'd say $75 is a good ballpark for a really nice job. Some welders charge per weld, some per hour, so it just depends. Best thing to do would be to just call some places and ask. If they have to ask you what a subframe connector is, I wouldn't take it to them
